Hitler Breaks the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact Hitler had always planned to eliminate Communism as he had detailed in his book Mein Kampf. He firmly believed that Marxism was a Jewish strategy to subjugate the world and the German's destiny to "Turn to the east". Unfortunately, Hitler met a dilemma that the Germans had met in World War 1. He could not fight the war on two fronts so, he created a non-aggression pact with the Russian dictator Joesph Stalin and proceeded to invade Poland without fear of Soviet retaliation. After defeating the French to the west Hitler no longer had to fight a two front war and turned his eyes to conquer Russia in Operation Barbarossa . |

In WWI the battles were forged in Trenches, giving the defenders the obvious advantage. Learning from History the Germans adopted a new form of attack called Blitzkrieg or "Lightning war". The new German strategy involving enormous amounts of highly mobile tanks, planes and troops. The unexpected barrage of speed and power took took neighboring countries by surprise and in 6 weeks the Germans had destroyed the armies of 4 countries.
